“Alone, we can do so little;
together, we can do so much.”

– Helen Keller Helped Meet Immediate Need Amid Covid-19 Crisis grew from a generous donation by an anonymous donor seeking to help individuals in need in our own community while also helping support local businesses. To provide resources to both community members and business owners, we worked with the donor to purchase gift cards to local food, pet supply, books & crafts, and auto repair establishments.

Over 190 people reached out, letting us know what they needed help with most, and sent out their gift cards with love and best wishes. In a wonderful turn of events, other members of the community stepped forward and donated so we could purchase even more gift cards! We are so proud to have helped our amazing donors provide over $5,750 in gift cards to those that need it, right here in Lake Country.

Our supplies were limited and we are no longer taking gift card requests, but are happy to help facilitate future donations. We want to thank those that helped donate for letting Ocreative be part of such an incredible journey. We might not be out of the woods yet, but we know we’ll get through this together.

Thank you so much and wishing you all the very best Lake Country!

How it All Started

We received a message from an incredible friend of ours, who wished to remain anonymous, who sought to coordinate an effective way to provide relief to both families in our area and local businesses affected by COVID-19. Through our donor’s request, we coordinated with a number of businesses in the Lake Country area. Books & Company, Fox Brothers’ Piggly Wiggly, Friends of Nature pet and feed store, and G-Brock’s Auto Repair agreed to join our donor’s initiative. In addition to this effort, a $1,000 donation was made to the Oconomowoc Food Pantry.

We offered $25 gift cards for each of these businesses to any person in the area that needs it. These gift cards were meant to help make things just a little easier by helping ease the cost of food, finding fun books or games for the kids at home, helping out with car repairs, or getting food and supplies for pets. Through that generous donation, we were able to purchase gift cards from local businesses and provide those to people in the community from March 31 through April 30, 2020.
